Sean

McDivitt

Sean McDivitt is an attorney in the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG), serving as an active duty officer. In his 9 years of practice, Sean’s primary background is in criminal law, where he served 4 years as a prosecutor and 2 years as a Special Victims’ Counsel, representing over 60 victims of sexual assault and domestic violence in 38 states and 4 countries. As a JAG, Sean has also deployed as an operations law attorney and litigated civil cases in federal courts throughout the United States. Prior to joining the Air Force, Sean served as a criminal defense attorney.

Sean was homeschooled from first grade through high school in his home state, Washington, and was raised in a devoutly religious home. He graduated from Pensacola Christian College in 2012, with a B.A. in Prelaw, and received his J.D. from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2015, where he served as Editor in Chief of the Oklahoma City University Law Review.

His journey of faith took a marked turn when he came out as gay in 2017. Since then, he has experienced enduring moments of deconstruction and reconstruction as he embraces all parts of his identity and continues to heal, learn, and grow. He and his husband currently reside in Washington, D.C., with their two dogs.
